Dear Chatterton Families,

Welcome back to a new school year at Chatterton School! We hope your summer was filled with time to relax and enjoy quality time with family and friends. We are so excited to welcome our students and families back and begin another wonderful year together.

While our students were away, there was quite a bit happening inside and outside our building! Over the summer, our school received several facility upgrades, including:

• A new ceiling in the gym, creating a brighter and refreshed space for physical education, assemblies, and school events.
• New ceilings in the main office and first-floor classrooms, giving these spaces a fresh, updated look.
• Several newly painted classrooms, creating bright and inviting learning environments.
• New flooring in several areas of the building, improving both the appearance and functionality of these spaces.
• Sidewalk repairs around the building to improve the safety and accessibility of our school grounds.

These improvements take a tremendous amount of planning, coordination, and hard work. We are incredibly grateful to our custodial and facilities teams for the countless hours they put in over the summer to prepare our building, as well as our office staff for keeping everything moving behind the scenes. Their dedication to Chatterton and to our students does not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate all they do.

As we begin the new school year, we are committed to providing every child with a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where they can learn, grow, and feel a true sense of belonging. Academically, we will continue to challenge and support our students while providing the instruction and individualized support they need to grow. Just as importantly, we will continue to focus on the social and emotional development of our children, helping them build confidence, empathy, resilience, and positive relationships with others.

We believe strong partnerships between home and school is the foundation for a wonderful school. We encourage open and ongoing communication with our families and invite you to reach out to us with questions, concerns, or ideas throughout the year. We are grateful to have such a supportive community behind our students and staff.

We also strongly encourage all families to become involved with our Chatterton PTA and Merrick SEPTA. These organizations do so much to enhance the experiences and opportunities we are able to provide for our children. Whether you attend an event, volunteer your time, or simply participate in one of the many activities throughout the year, your involvement makes a difference and helps make Chatterton the special community that it is.

Most importantly, we cannot wait to see our students back in the building! Our greatest joy is seeing their smiling faces as they walk through our doors and watching Chatterton come alive as our students reconnect with their friends, teachers, and the school community. Our teachers have been hard at work over the past few weeks getting the learning environments ready for the children and we are excited to open our doors on Tuesday, September 1st! 

Thank you for entrusting us with your children each day. We are honored to be their teachers, leaders, and partners, and we look forward to all the wonderful things that this new school year will bring.
